Increased Resources

Increasing our resources doesn’t just mean making more money. It means more ability to offer top quality CPD programing for our members. It means more staff to support sections and branches in their advocacy and membership engagement initiatives. And it means more volunteers who are able to keep the CBA vibrant and active for years to come. This requires a plan for long-term growth that will keep attracting new lawyers to join and experience everything the CBA has to offer.

  • Our federated model is one of our greatest strengths and ensuring that National and the Branches have certainty in terms of their long-term finances is a top priority. There is no ‘one and done’ solution, but ensuring that growth and service delivery are at the forefront of National’s mind is crucial to the long-term success of the Association.

  • Dedicated resources should be made available to Sections wanting to try reasonable engagement initiatives outside of a conference or a networking reception. Moots, non-academic writing contests, and awards can get more eyes on the CBA and bring in new members.

  • Making the CBA more attractive to a wide array of sponsors enables us to cover conference costs or subsidize engagement initiatives for our members. Other international associations, like the American Bar Association, are masters at being able to leverage sponsorship opportunities, as well as charitable giving to maximize their impact.
